Design-Build Unit Train Rail Loop
Patrick was hired by Midwest Generation to design and construct a 3-mile rail loop to facilitate coal train deliveries at the Powerton Generating Station in Pekin, Illinois. Major project components included the rail embankment, two rail bridges, track and access roadways, electrical and lighting improvements, and various ground improvement measures to protect existing subsurface utilities. Patrick assumed responsibility for all investigation and design services (civil, structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, railroad, environmental, electrical, and survey), as well as permitting, cost estimating, value engineering, bidding, construction management, and at-risk contracting.
